Dallas Cup's Gordon Jago Receives British Honor for Youth Soccer

(LONDON, England) October 11, 2006 – Her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, bestowed upon Gordon Jago the honor of Member of the Order of the British Empire for his services promoting international youth soccer.

Member of the Order of the British Empire (abbreviated as it is known in England as an M.B.E.) is awarded for the achievement or service in and to the community of a responsible kind which is outstanding in its field; or very local "hands-on" service which stands out as an example to others. In both cases awards illuminate areas of dedicated service which merit public recognition.

"My involvement in Dallas Cup was, I believe, the deciding factor in bestowing upon me the honor of Member of the Order of the British Empire. As always within any organization a great number of people play important parts in its success. I am truly fortunate to have excellent support and assistance from the Dallas Cup board of directors, its staff and the over 1,600 volunteers who together make the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup possible and have brought about the honor bestowed upon me in the Queen's Birthday List," stated Gordon Jago upon receiving this honor.
