Our
Philanthropy
The British American Business Council of DFW in addition
to providing networking, business and social events for our
members, has a philanthropic goal. The majority of our fundraising
efforts and events throughout the year are focused on raising
monies to fund transport, hotels and activities for a number
of deserving students to study in London as part of the British
Studies Program.
The British Studies Program, sponsored by the
British American Business Council of Dallas Fort Worth, was
established to encourage
and support studies abroad. The BABC, in conjunction with
ACS International Schools, provides scholarships to deserving
juniors
from North Dallas High School to study at the ACS campus
in Cobham, Surrey in England for 2 - 3weeks in the summer.
The
program is promoted to the students, who are encouraged to
apply by submitting an essay that is scored and evaluated
by both organizations. The essays that achieve the highest
evaluations
are eligible for the program. At present, BABC-DFW is sending
two or three students a year but hopes to increase the number
as our philanthropy grows. To this end, we have recently
created a Foundation to handle donations for our philanthropic
endeavors.
As a 501c3 tax-free charitable entity, The BABC-DFW Foundation
will be able to offer tax incentives for donations from our
members.
