IT R&D on the rise

Total R&D of all UK companies has
increased by £2.2bn
to £19.2bn

The UK IT industry's
commitment to research and development (R&D) has increased again
over the past year. The total investment in UK technology
R&D
was £1.88bn
during the 2005/06 financial year, accounting for 9.8
per cent of all R&D in the UK, according to the Department
of Trade and Industry's (DTI) annual R&D scoreboard report.

EU, U.S. Boost Judicial Cooperation
The European Union and the United States have concluded an
agreement to facilitate cooperation between EU and U.S. prosecutors
on terrorism and cross-border criminal cases. The arrangement
between Eurojust, the EU's judicial coordination unit, and
the U.S. Department of Justice will provide for the exchange
of evidence in active cases and help increase judicial cooperation
and information sharing between all 25 EU Member States and
the U.S.
